Victorian Slate – Pred Hughes

Pred started his career as a boat builder and ships joiner in Falmouth Cornwall. Returning home to Wales he was employed on the Dinorwic Hydro scheme in Llanberis. From there he joiuned the slate industry at Ffestiniog and Dyffryn Nantlle and in 2003 joined the team at the National Slate Museum at Llanberis. Pred is now semi retired but heads underground tours with Go Below Adventures. Preds Books always make great reading and his first hand experiences of the slate industry provide many fascinating stories.
